I've spent my career as a software engineer across InsurTech, HealthTech, and more. I led an engineering team for a couple of years, and while I stepped back from management, I've kept the parts I loved: mentoring others, and building things that matter. These days that also means looking for ways to put those skills to use outside of work, for causes I care about.

A bit about me

I've spent my career building software at the intersection of complex industries and real human problems. InsurTech, HealthTech, food logistics. Different problems, same instinct: find what's broken and fix it properly. I've led engineering teams, shipped products used by thousands, and learned what it takes to go from idea to production.

For a couple of years I moved into engineering management in InsurTech. I'm glad I did it. I loved the people side, and mentoring others is something I genuinely enjoy and still do. But I missed building things, so I stepped back into individual contributor work. Now I spend my time solving problems. On the side I'm building recruitment technology and a community rewards platform aimed at social good, because hiring is broken and so is the idea that tech should only serve the people who can already afford it.

Tech for good

Alongside the day job, I want to put my tech and organisational skills to use somewhere that actually matters. I spent a couple of years running an engineering team, and I've always liked the people side of things: mentoring, helping others grow, figuring out what's actually broken and fixing it properly. I'd like to bring that outside of work too.

I'm looking to volunteer with a charity doing genuinely systemic work, tackling root causes rather than just symptoms, whether that's poverty, access to justice, or other causes that matter. Things like case management systems, process design, data and mapping, or general digital infrastructure that lets caseworkers and volunteers focus on people rather than spreadsheets. I'm around evenings, weekends, and the odd daytime hour alongside my full time job, and I'm not looking for a one off. I want something I can properly commit to long term.

It also shapes what I build. The community rewards platform I'm developing is an attempt to design social good into the model from the start, treating impact as core rather than an afterthought.

Job boards, candidate applications, and job alert tracking, all managed from a simple dashboard. Recruitment companies can set up their brand, copy, and live jobs in minutes with no technical knowledge needed.

A community rewards platform for social good

Rewards for choosing train over plane, e-bike over taxi, secondhand over new, and independent sustainable businesses over corporations with poor environmental and social records. Points don't go back to you. The community pools them together and spends them on social good projects: rewilding, access to justice, and causes that matter.
